LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - The Saint Peter's men's golf team has finished the first day of the MAAC Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
The Peacocks brought their A game to kick off the tournament, highlighted by two top 20 finishes in
Jeffery Yong and
Shiv Manhas. Yong in particular had an outstanding day one, scoring just one over par and finishing tenth overall, with an opening nine score of Par and knocking in two birdies on the eighth and and tenth holes. Manhas was also on fire to open up the tournament, also scoring par on the front nine, and leading the Peacocks in birdies on day one with four, all to the tune of a sixteenth place finish after day one. The rest of the Saint Peter's roster performed well.
Christopher Hannan earned the third place spot on the Peacocks in his MAAC Championship debut with a 21st place finish, scoring three over par, and tying
Jack Hennelly for second most birdies on the team in the first round with three.
Chad Maurer earns a top 30 placement as well, scoring four over par, and knocking down a pair of back to back birdies on the back nine. Hennelly finished last for the Peacocks, however still earned a top 40 placement, coming in at 39th place with a six over par performance.
With Saint Peter's looking to keep momentum high, day one ends with the Peacocks tied for fifth place in the MAAC Tournament with Fairfield by both teams scoring 10 over par. The first group for Saint Peter's tee's off at 9:30 am ET. Here are the total scores for Day One of the MAAC Championships.
