JERSEY CITY, NJ– The Saint Peter's softball team (7-44, 3-25 MAAC) fell 3-0 to Fairfield (28-22, 19-7 MAAC) in its season finale at Jaroschak Field Saturday afternoon.
Ava White (2-8) made the start in the circle, going the distance while allowing three earned runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Peacocks totaled five hits in the game, with
Paige Seemon, Angela Tremarco, Carlee Charles, Hannah Klotz, and
Angelina Wagner each recording one. Saint Peter's struggled offensively, striking out nine times.
WHAT HAPPENED
Fairfield got on the board in the second, capitalizing on a wild pitch, a stolen base, and a groundout to take a 1-0 lead.
The Stags extended their advantage in the fifth, using a leadoff infield single followed by a two-run homer to right center to make it 3-0.
Saint Peter's recorded four hits through the first five innings.
Paige Seemon led off the game with a single to left, followed by a base hit from
Carlee Charles.
Angela Tremarco added a double in the fourth, and
Hannah Klotz singled in the fifth, but the Peacocks were unable to capitalize.
In the final inning, Saint Peter's threatened. Pinch hitter
Angelina Wagner led off with a double down the left field line and moved to third on a groundout, but two flyouts ended the game.
