JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Saint Peter's University Director of Athletics Katie Arcuri has announced the hiring of
Max Alverio to lead the new established women's golf program.
Alverio joins the Peacocks with extensive experience in the golf world. He played for four seasons at the University of Alabama, where he competed for the Tide's Division I program. Alverio represented Puerto Rico in the World Amateur Team Championship in 1999, 2002, 2006, 2016, and 2018 and competed in the 2004 U.S. Amateur at Winged Foot Golf Club.

"Max brings an impressive combination of competitive experience, knowledge of the game and a genuine passion for developing student-athletes. As we build this program from the ground up, we wanted a leader who understands what it takes to establish a strong foundation and create a culture of excellence. We are excited for Max to lead this historic new chapter for Saint Peter's Athletics and look forward to seeing the program grow under his leadership."
Following his collegiate career, Alverio competed on the amateur and professional golf circuit. He was honored as the Puerto Rico Player of the Year in 2013 and the Puerto Rico Amateur Golfer of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Alverio was recognized by the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee as Puerto Rico's most recognized golfer in 2002 and 2018. He competed in eight Puerto Rico Opens, official PGA TOUR events and played professionally throughout the PGA TOUR Americas from 2007 to 2014.
In addition to his vast collegiate and amateur experience, Alverio was the PGA Level 2 Head Golf Professional at Palmas Athletic Club in Puerto Rico, where he managed the pro shop, directed tournaments and provided guidance on Track-Man golf simulator from 2009–2013. Following his time as a PGA golf professional, he spent over nine years representing Titleist, FootJoy, & Taylor Made as a sales representative throughout Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
