QUEENS, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis team fell to non-conference opponent Queens College (N.Y.) on Friday.
Senior Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) performed well for the Peacocks, defeating his opponent Christopher Baron in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in his singles match.
Freshmen Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/College Corolind Merger) and Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) shined in their singles matches, defeating their opponents in straight sets.
Saint Peter's would split the singles matches with the Knights, with sophomore Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador /APCH) and both freshmen Luke Whaley (California/La Costa Canyon) and Hugo Lima (Puebla, Mexico/Memorial) suffering loses.
Queens would prevail in this match, taking two of the three doubles play matchups. The freshmen tandem of Jottrand and Rodriguez would prevail in Saint Peter's lone doubles play win with a score of 8-2.
With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 1-1 on the season. Queens College (N.Y.) gets its first victory of the season and improve to 1-0.
The Peacocks return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6, when they welcome the La Salle Explorers to the Yanitelli Center Bubble for its non-conference matchup.
