Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Four members of the Bowling Peahens have been selected to the Saint Peter's College Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2010 semester.

Senior Amanda Borger, and sophmores Michele DeVries and VJ Turner are repeat selections, while freshman  Jeannie Chambers has been selected for the first time.

The Saint Peter's College Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll includes all student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and the three teams that have the highest GPA among the 19 Saint Peter's athletic teams.



Amanda Borger, Michele DeVries, VJ Turner, and Jeannie Chambers have been named to the
Saint Peter's College Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2010 semester.


Since its inception in the Fall of 2008, Borger has been named to the Honor Roll five straight times. Last year the communications major from Brick, NJ was selected to the NEC Student-Athlete Honor Roll, and was one of six Bowling Peahens to be named a Brunswick and National Tenpins Coaches Association All-Academic Honoree. On the lanes this season, the team captain was named NEC Bowler of the Week after she led Saint Peter's to a second place finish at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational Tournament in October. It was the second time in her career she was named tops in the NEC, having previously won the award for the opening week of the 2009-10 season.

DeVries, a history major from Port Murray, NJ has been named to the Honor Roll for her third straight time. Last year she was also named to the NEC Student-Athlete Honor Roll, and was a Brunswick and National Tenpins Coaches Association All-Academic Honoree. On the lanes last season she was selected to the NEC Rookie Team and All-NEC Second Team and has continued to post solid numbers so far this season.

Turner has been named to the Honor Roll for both of her semesters at Saint Peter's, after transfering from the University of Hawaii last spring. The accounting major was also named a Brunswick and National Tenpins Coaches Association All-Academic Honoree. The Honolulu, HI native finished up her second semester of athletic eligibility by being named NEC Rookie of the Week for her efforts at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational Tournament.

Chambers hails from Browns Mills, NJ. The sociology major bowled a 208 in her first collegiate game, and finished the fall segment averaging over 17 pins/frame.

In addition to their academic achievements, the quartet helped the Bowling Peahens secure two second-place NCAA tournament finishes during this season's fall segment. Saint Peter's (14-15) begins the spring segment of the 2010-11 season in Laurel, MD on January 22nd at the Frederick E. Underwood Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Bowie State University.
