The Saint Peter's College men's soccer and men's tennis teams have each earned a 2010-11 NCAA Public Recognition Award. This award is given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with respect to their Academic Progress Rate (APR). This is the first time that these two sports have been honored with this award.
“I commend the men's soccer and men's tennis student-athletes for this great achievement,” said Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott. “This recognition from the NCAA is indicative of Saint Peter's College's commitment to academic excellence for all student-athletes.”
The multi-year APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in a multi-year calculation which provides a clear picture of the academic standing of each sport. High-performing teams receiving public recognition awards this year posted APR scores ranging from 978 to a perfect 1,000.
