The Saint Peter's University men's swimming team came away with a two point win over Big East member Seton Hall last Friday in the Yanitelli Center pool. The Peacocks defeated the Pirates by a final team score of 117-115.
Valerijs Lebedevs (400 Yard IM- 4:08.28, 200 Yard Butterfly- 1:56.14) and Lovro Bilonic (100 Yard Freestlye- 48.34, 200 Yard Freestle- 1:44.22) led the squad with two first place finishes each, while Marke Conte (50 Yard Freestyle- 22.21), Facu Monteiro (200 Yard Backstroke- 1:56.40) and Peter Jimenez (200 Yard Breaststroke- 2:04.60) each took home first place in their respective events as well.
Additionally, both Peacock relay teams secured first place finishes. The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Monteiro, Peter Jimenez, Sean Dunne and Conte finished with a time of 1:36.24, while the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Ayberk Ozturk , Trey McGraw, Yohancey Kingston and Lebedevs finished in 1:27.42.
Peter Jimenez (100 Yard Freestyle- 48.26), Conte (200 Yard Backstroke- 1:56.40) and Bilonic (200 Yard Breastroke- 2:08.20) also recorded second place finishes in addition to their first place honors.
The women's team were defeated by the Pirates by a score of 126-80. They were led by Rachel Wuko (100 Yard Freestyle- 1st- 53.79), Christina Petrelis (500 Yard Freestyle- 1st- 5:24.11) and Alexandra Sison (200 Yard Breaststroke- 1st- 2:31.65).
The Peacocks went 1-2-3 in the 500 Yard Freestyle event. Alma Lopez (5:28.87) and Malia Fredrickson (5:49.25) finished second and third, respectively, behind Petrelis.
The women's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team also finished first with a time of 1:52.74. Michelle Corpuz, Raven Innis, Fredrickson and Nowras Halag were members of the relay team.
Saint Peter's returns to action this Saturday, November 16th as they host Fairfield at 5pm.
