The Saint Peter's College baseball team dropped both games in today's twinbill against the University of Maryland by scores of 9-0 and 1-0. Ethan Jackson (first game- 1.1 IP, 6 hits, 6 ER)and Dom Macaluso (second game- 6.1 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER) were credited with the losses.
The second game seemed to be heading into extra innings, as both teams were scoreless going into the bottom of the seventh. Maryland's Ryan Holland singled on with a bunt in the first at bat of the frame however, setting the stage for a dramatic bottom of the inning. Macaluso would hit the next batter, putting runners on first and second with no outs. A single to right field by Jordan Hagel drove in the only run of the game, securing the walk off victory for the hosts.
Preston Aldridge, Brian Koster, Nicholas Gonzalez and Alberto Rodriguez collected a hit each for the Peacocks. The Terrapins finished the game with 5 hits.
Saint Peter's managed just three hits in the first contest, two of which came off the bat of Russel Stupienski who finished 2-2 from the plate. Maryland scored six of their nine runs in the second inning off seven hits.
The Peacocks return to action this Friday, as they travel to Philadelphia, PA to face off against Temple. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
