Robertson Completes Comeback Effort in Overtime for the Peacocks

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Jacob Robertson scored his second goal of the match with 1:59 to play in the first overtime to complete the Saint Peter's University Peacocks (2-1) 3-2, comeback win over the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks (1-2) this afternoon at Cochrane Stadium.

 

The Peacocks trailed 2-0 late in the second half, but a goal by Sadaoui with 14:33 left cut the deficit to 2-1. Robertson scored his first goal of the match a little more than two minutes later to tie the game and then scored the game winner late in the first overtime.

 

Lehigh opened the scoring quickly, taking a 1-0 lead in the third minute of play. They then added a second tally at 31:53. They led 2-0 going into the break.

 

Saint Peter's then finally got on the board with 14:33 to play on a header by Sadaoui, off an assist from Betim Bajrami. Robertson then tied the match a little more than two minutes later, scoring in the box off a pass from Jack Pounce.

 

With just less than two minutes to play in the first extra session, Lennard Ann found a streaking Robertson who put the shot past the Lehigh keeper for the victory.

 

Saint Peter's had 14 shots, eight on goal, while Lehigh recorded nine shots, five on goal. Carlos Suarez made three saves in net for the Peacocks.

 

Saint Peter's will begin a five-game road trip on Friday night when they travel face George Mason for a 7pm kick-off in Virginia.
