Maddee' Tabbed MAAC Player Of The Week

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth), a member of the Saint Peter's men's soccer team, has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6. It is the junior's first conference honor.

Maddee' opened up conference play with a flurry after notching his first collegiate multi-goal performance in a 2-all standstill against Niagara on Saturday. After Niagara took a 1-0 edge, Maddee' found the back of the net 70 seconds later when he found the twine from 18-yards out off a feeder from Omar Crowl (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson). The Purple Eagles grabbed the edge before halftime, but Maddee' made sure the Peacocks would not lose 2-1 after he found the back of the net from 15-yards out and the 81:39 mark to help send the game into overtime and the match ended in a tie.

Maddee' leads the team with four goals and four assists for 12 points this season after posting two goals and three assists for seven points in 2012.

It marks the third time this season the Peacocks have earned a conference honor. Senior Carlos Suarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/St. Benedict's Prep) was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-8 and freshman Louis Mobbs (Hull, England/Sydney Smith) was tabbed as the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Wednesday in the squad's home opener against Rider. Match time is 3 p.m.
