Box Score 3 ELON, N.C. –Saint Peter's lost three games at the Phoenix Clash in non-conference softball action on Saturday. The Peacocks (1-6) fell 10-0 in five innings to host Elon, 10-0 to Hampton and 13-3 to the Phoenix in the nightcap.
Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) paced Saint Peter's with two hits, including a solo home run against Elon in the final game of the day while Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception) recorded two hits and a run scored and Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, Calif./Caldwell College) added a hit, a run and an RBI on the afternoon.
In the final game of the day, Elon defeated the Peacocks 13-3.
Harrison led off the game with a home run to left center to give Saint Peter's a 1-0 lead.
After the Phoenix scored five times in the bottom of the first to grab a 5-1 lead, Saint Peter's added a run in the top of the second. Parker started the rally with a leadoff walk before Shelby Beaver (Boyerstown, Pa./Boyerstown) followed with a walk to put runners at first and second. After Tori Feorenzo (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) moved both runners into scoring position, Taylor Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) brought home Parker on an RBI ground out to second to trim the margin to 5-2.
Elon scored five times in the bottom of the second before Saint Peter's recorded a run in the top of the third inning. With one out, D'Amato reached on an infield single, moved to second on a ground out and touched home on a Parker run-scoring single to right center.
The Phoenix scored two more times in the bottom of the third and once in the fourth and the game ended after five innings with Elon taking a 13-3 victory.
Feorenzo took the loss for the Peacocks.
In the second game of the day, Hampton scored six runs in the first inning and four runs in the second en route to a 10-0 victory
Harrison led off the game with a single down the left field line for the Saint Peter's lone hit in the contest. Harrison moved to third when D'Amato reached on an error, but after a caught stealing, a pop out and a ground out ended the threat.
The Peacocks put a runner on in the final three innings thanks to the aid of three Hampton errors, but could not advance the runner past first base and the Pirates won the game in five innings.
Beaver took the loss against the Pirates.
Saint Peter's lost the opening game of the tournament 10-0 to the host Phoenix. Elon scored five times in the fifth and five times in the fifth to earn the 10-0 five-inning win.
The Peacocks opened the game with Harrison coaxing a walk and D'Amato reaching on a single to third base to put runners on first and second, but a pop out, strikeout and groundout ended the threat.
Saint Peter's also had a threat in the fifth after Amber Velasquez (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) singled to right field with one out. Corretjer walked to move Velasquez to second with two outs, but the Phoenix got out of the jam with a ground out and a strikeout to end the threat and ended the game thanks to five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Erica Colon (Fairview, N.J./High Tech) took the loss in the opener.
The Peacocks conclude the Phoenix Clash against Temple on Sunday. Game time is 10 a.m.
