ELLINGTON, Conn. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished the first round in ninth place to help the Saint Peter's men's golf team to a fourth-place standing at the Connecticut Cup on Monday. The second round was halted due to darkness for the second-straight season.
Edmunds posted an even-par round of 72 to finish in ninth place in the first round to sit three strokes behind the first-round leader.
All five Peacocks finished the opening round in the 70's. Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) finished one stroke behind Edmunds with a one-over par round of 73 to finish in 14th place while Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) ended the first 18 holes with a two-over par round of 74 to rank 21st.
Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) (45th place, 77) and Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) (58th place, 78) also competed for Saint Peter's in the squad's final fall event.
Connecticut leads its own invitational after the first round with a score of 284, three strokes ahead of Hartford (287) while Sacred Heart (291), the Peacocks (296) and Bryant (297) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the 15-team field.
Saint Peter's will wrap up the second round and play the final round of the Connecticut Cup on Tuesday.
