JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's-Manhattan men's basketball game at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City on Jan. 16 has been selected as an ESPN wildcard matchup and will be broadcasted on ESPN3. The game time remains 7 p.m.
The tilt between the Jaspers and the Peacocks will complete the season series between the two schools. Manhattan will host Saint Peter's at Draddy Gymnasium on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
Saint Peter's will now be featured on ESPN3 four times this season with the addition of the game against Manhattan. The Peacocks will also host Rider on Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. and complete the hOURglass Rivalry home slate against Monmouth on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. The squad travels to Iona for a 7 p.m. tilt on Jan. 31 for its lone ESPN3 road contest.
With the new wildcard format announced by ESPN and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, two other contests on the schedule this year could be flexed to an ESPN3 telecast. The road contest at Marist on Feb. 27 is an option to be broadcasted on ESPN2 or ESPNU and the regular season finale at the Yanitelli Center against Iona on Mar. 1 could be selected as an ESPN3 tilt.
In addition, all of the men's basketball MAAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchups at the Times Union Center on Mar. 7 along with the men's and women's semifinals on Mar. 8 will be shown on ESPN3. The MAAC Women's Basketball Championship Final will air on ESPNU on Mar. 9 at 4:30 p.m. and the MAAC Men's Basketball Championship Game will be broadcasted on ESPN or ESPN2 on Mar. 9 at 9 p.m.
Saint Peter's is 1-1 this season on television after defeating Rutgers 68-50 on Nov. 22 on the Big Ten Network and falling 67-52 at Seton Hall on Dec. 14 on Fox Sports 1. The Peacocks were 3-3 last year on broadcasted games either on television or through the ESPN3 platform.
Saint Peter's (4-7) returns to action on Tuesday with its final non-conference home game against Fairleigh Dickinson. Game time is 4 p.m. It will be "Holiday In Jersey City" Day for the game against the Knights with holiday music being played throughout the evening and fans will receive a gift and candy cane courtesy of Saint Peter's Athletics when they enter the Yanitelli Center.
