JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis team fell to Monmouth, 6-1, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Tuesday.
Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) was the lone Peacock to earn a victory in singles competition. Knezevic defeated Przemyslaw Filipek in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/CCM) lost his contest in three-sets. Fabian Valdiviezo (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio-Aleman) fell to Freddy Marcinkowski, 6-1, 6-2. Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada/Laurel Spring) dropped his match against Luke Adams, 6-0, 6-2. Luke Whaley (California/La Costa Canyon) was defeated in his singles contest in straight sets.
The tandem of Knezevic and Bellomi earned a victory in doubles play, defeating the duo of Ramy Bekhiet and Marcinkowski, 8-6.
With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 6-5 overall, while Monmouth improves to 5-6.
The squad returns to action Mar. 30, when the team travels north to face Niagara. Match time is set for 9:00 a.m.
