Knezevic's Victories In Singles And Doubles Pushes Men's Tennis Past Mount St. Mary's, 4-3

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis team rebounded on Sunday with a 4-3 victory over Mount St. Mary's.

The Peacocks played well in singles competition, taking four of six contests from the Mount.

Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) opened up singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Adam Salam. Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/CCM) downed Austin Blake in consecutive sets, 7-5, 6-3. Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada/Laurel Spring) was taken to a third set by Peter Salmon, but won his contest, 7-6, 4-6, 6-1. In the No. 5 contest, Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) topped Darren Mast in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (5). In the final singles match, Luke Whaley (California/La Costa Canyon) cruised past Louis Tonon, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Saint Peter's took one of three contests from Mount St. Mary's. The tandem of Knezevic and Bellomi defeated the duo of Mateo DeSomocurcio and Tonon by the count of 8-6.   

With the victory, the squad improves to 8-9 overall while the Mount falls to 10-11 this season.

Saint Peter's returns to action Apr. 19, when the team hits the road for a conference clash against Fairfield.
