Penn Downs Saint Peter's Baseball, 8-4

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Penn defeated Saint Peter's 8-4 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.

Ariel Ramirez (San Domingo Dominican Republic/Babeque) paced the Peacocks (7-21) with two hits and three RBIs. Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) added two hits including a solo homer while Nick Henriquez (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) added three hits and a run scored in the loss.

Tim Graul powered the Quakers (16-11) with a 4-for-4 performance with three RBIs and three runs scored while Austin Bossart added two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs the win.

The two teams battled closely for the first five and a half innings before Penn scored the final four runs to come away with an 8-4 win.

After Saint Peter's tied the game at 4 in the top of the sixth inning, the Quakers scored twice in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Bossart doubled home the first run before Rick Brebner played Bossart with an RBI single.

Graul added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run double to seal the 8-4 decision.

Kristoffersen helped the Peacocks jump out to the quick 1-0 lead after leading off the game with a solo homer to right center in the first inning.

Saint Peter's added to its lead in the second to take a 2-0 edge. Michael Wulff (Madison, N.J./Madison) doubled to start the inning and came around to score on Ramirez's RBI double.

Penn then scored the next four runs to grab a 4-2 advantage. Ryan Mincher plated the Quakers first run on a sacrifice fly in the second. Bossart doubled home a run and Jeff McGarry recorded an RBI single through the left side in the third to give Penn its first lead of the day. Graul homered in the fourth to give the Quakers a 4-2 advantage.

The Peacocks answered with two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 4. Henriquez singled to center and DJ Nozza (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) was hit with a pitch before the duo came home on Ramirez's two-run single up the middle.

Penn then scored the final four runs, including two in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good.

Kevin Croucher (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) took the loss for Saint Peter's.

The Peacocks return to action when they start a three-game set against Rider on Saturday with a doubleheader. The two teams will play a nine-inning game and then a seven-inning affair starting at 12 p.m.
