Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi downed Saint Peter's 12-0 in non-conference baseball action on Saturday.
Jose Martinez (Browns Mill, N.J./Remberton Township) paced the Peacocks (0-2) with two hits while Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Chris Hugg (Ironia, N.J.Randolph) each added a hit in the loss.
Cody Clarke powered the Islanders (2-0) with a 3-for-3 performance with three RBIs. Tyler Ware added two hits and two RBIs while Travis Geiser and Justin Perales each drove in two runs in the winning effort.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi started the scoring in the first inning with two runs thanks to RBIs by Clarke and Perales for a 2-0 lead.
The Islanders put up a seven spot in the second inning to increase it advantage to 9-0. Lee plated the first run of the inning on a groundout before Kyle Danford singled home a run and Ware plated two runs on a triple down the right field line. Clarke and Perales added their second RBIs of the night on a single and triple, respectively, before Casey Thomas capped the seven-run inning with an RBI single to left field.
Clarke increased the margin to 10-0 with his third RBI in as many innings on an RBI single to left field.
Geiser added a two-run triple in the fourth for a 12-0 advantage.
AJ Celentano (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) took the loss for Saint Peter's.
Tommy Toole (Manasquan, N.Y./Manasquan) and Tom Puza (Point Pleasant, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) made their collegiate debut in the contest.
Saint Peter's and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi conclude its three-game series on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m. EST.
