Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Saint Peter's softball team scored two runs in the sixth inning to pick up a 3-1 victory over Hampton on Saturday.
The Peacocks (1-6) began the sixth inning with a double from Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay). Next at-bat, Kirsten Kelley (Seaford, N.Y. / General Douglas McArthur) would groundout, but advanced Storms to third. A RBI-double from Jillian Silvanic (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) advanced Storms home for the 2-1 lead.
Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) moved Silvanic to third on an infield single and Chelsea Crews (Seattle, Wash. / Mountlake Terrace) would draw a walk in the next at-bat to load up the bases. Alyssa Ruiz (Howell, N.J. / Howel) came in to pinch run for Silvanic, and scored on a pass ball to give Saint Peter's a 3-1 advantage.
Saint Peter's got its first run of the game in the first inning off a solo homerun from Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado).
Hampton won the first game of the day 6-1, using three runs in each the third and fourth innings for the victory.
The Peacocks return to action tomorrow, with contests against South Dakota (12:15 p.m.) and Valparaiso (2:30 p.m.).
