Saint Peter's Softball Drops Two On Final Day Of The Rebel Games

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Saint Peter's softball team wrapped up play at the Rebel Games on Tuesday with a pair of rematches against Albany (N.Y.) and Wisconsin-Green Bay. 

In the morning tilt against Albany, Nicole Olmedo (Chino, Calif. / Chino), Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) and Stacey Klempel (Winter Garden, Fla. / Ocoee [Indian River State]) were the only Peacocks to record a hit.

Vicky McFarland paced the Danes with two hits, two runs and three RBIs. Lindsey Haskell tallied two hits, two runs and one RBI in the victory. 

Albany scored three runs in the first inning, fueled by RBI base hits from Maggie Cocks and Kelly Costello. The Great Danes scored three more runs in the second inning, powered by a three-run homerun from McFarland.

Albany scored again in the fourth inning off a solo homerun from Haskell and would score once more in the fifth inning en route to the 8-0 victory. 

In the afternoon contest, Green Bay jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Saint Peter's got on the board in the second inning, following a RBI-single from D'Amato to score Olmedo. 

Green Bay countered with two scores in the third inning one score in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

The Peacocks cut into the margin in the fifth inning, scoring two runs. Olmedo was able to score from third base off a pass ball. On the following at-bat, Kirsten Kelley (Seaford, N.Y. / General Douglas McArthur) recorded a RBI sac-fly to score Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay). 

Green Bay extended its lead in the fifth inning, powered by a two-run double down the right field line.

Saint Peter's added another run in the sixth inning with Nicole Feoli's (Burlington Twp, N.J. / Burlington) first collegiate homerun to trail 8-4.

The Phoenix added insurance in the sixth inning with another run scored to win the contest, 8-4. 

Saint Peter's returns to action on Mar. 25 for a non-conference doubleheader at Saint Joseph's. Opening pitch is set for 3 p.m.
