Box Score 2 JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Quinnipiac defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's softball doubleheader on Saturday.
In the opening game, Nicole Feoli (Burlington Twp, N.J. / Burlington) tallied two hits and two runs. Kirsten Kelley (Seaford, N.Y. / General Douglas McArthur) went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI while Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay) recorded two RBIs in the loss.
Hannah Lindsley fueled the Bobcats (6-18, 2-0 MAAC) with one hit, three runs scored and five RBIs while Molly Jarrett and Casey Herzog posted two RBIs apiece.
Saint Peter's (1-14, 0-2 MAAC) got on the board first in the opening inning. With runners on second and third, Storms recorded the fielder's choice RBI to give the Peacocks a 1-0 edge.
Quinnipiac countered with four runs in the third inning. The Bobcats scored their first run off a throwing error that allowed Lindsley to round the bases. Two batters later, Abby Johnson hit a single up the middle to score another runner and take the lead. RBI-singles from Nikki Barba and Keiland Finley gave Quinnipiac a 4-1 lead.
The Bobcats scored another run in the fourth inning. With a runner on third, the Bobcats hit into a groundout but managed to add a tally for the 5-1 advantage.
Saint Peter's cut into the margin in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Kelley powered the Peacocks in the inning, recording a RBI double and a run scored.
Quinnipiac responded with five runs in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth, capped off by a three-run homerun, en route to a 13-4 victory.
In the second game, the Bobcats got the first score of the game following a RBI-single from Miranda Magana. Quinnipiac scored three runs in each the third and fourth innings to take a 7-0 advantage.
The Peacocks got on the board in the sixth inning, following a three-run homerun to center from Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado).
Quinnipiac countered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to win the contest, 12-4.
Saint Peter's returns to action tomorrow, when they play host to Siena. Opening pitch is set for 12 p.m.
