Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield swept a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) softball doubleheader against Saint Peter's on Saturday. The Stags won the opener 11-0 and then defeated the Peacocks 4-3 in the second game.
Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado) finished with two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs on the day. Nicole Feoli (Burlington Twp, N.J. / Burlington) recorded two hits while Candice Koch (Orland Park, Ill. / Carl Sandburg) added one hit in the twinbill.
Kate Robinson powered Fairfield (8-16, 3-3 MAAC) with three hits, two runs and five RBIs while Sam Frungillo added three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs in the doubleheader.
In the opener, Fairfield held the Peacocks (1-23, 0-8 MAAC) to one hit in an 11-0 victory in five innings.
The Stags got things going early, scoring five runs in the opening innings. The bulk of the runs came from the bat of Robinson, who hit a three-run homerun.
Fairfield added two more scores in the second inning off a two-run homerun from Frungillo to take a 7-0 lead. The Stags scored four more runs in the third innings en route to victory.
Tori Feorenzo (Paramus, N.J. / Paramus) took the loss in the opener.
In the second game, Fairfield scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to secure a 4-3 victory.
Saint Peter's got on the board first with a solo homerun from Harrison to take a 1-0 edge.
Fairfield took the lead in the second inning with a two-run single from Makenna DiGuillo to give the Stags a 2-1 lead.
Harrison hit her second homerun of the contest in the fourth inning, hitting a three-run blast to left field to put the Peacocks in front, 3-2.
The Stags knotted the game at 3 in the bottom of the inning with a RBI-double from Robinson to score Gianna Kinhofer.
Crystal Carlucci (Iselin, N.J. / John F. Kennedy Memorial) took the loss in the second game.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 12, when the team returns to Jersey City for a league doubleheader against Iona. First pitch is slated 12 p.m.
