Edmunds Finishes Second To Lead Saint Peter's Men's Golf To The 2015 Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational Crown

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished second to lead the Saint Peter's men's golf team to the 2015 Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational title on Monday.

Edmunds posted a 76 in the first round on Sunday and then fired a 69 in the final round to move up from 22nd place to second place and finish two strokes behind the medalist with a two-round score of 145. It is the senior's best individual finish since winning the ECAC Championships in the fall of 2012.

The Peacocks shot a 297 in the first round to go into Monday's play in third place. The squad then shot a 294 in the final round for the second-best score on the day to earn a one-stroke victory over Lehigh (592) with a two-round total of 591. It was the squad's first team title since winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in May 2014.

Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) and Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) finished tied for 12th to help Saint Peter's be the only team to place three golfers in the Top-12. Grubbs, the March MAAC Golfer of the Month, carded a 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second round while Dilio posted a 75 in the opening day and a 73 in the final round for a two-day score of 148.

Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (22nd place, 150) and Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (67th place, 162) rounded out the Peacocks five competitors.

Saint Peter's finished as the top team in a 14-team field that included five other league teams. The Peacocks beat Monmouth, who finished second at last year's championships, by five strokes while Rider (612), Siena (617), Iona (617) and Niagara (632) also participated in the event.

Saint Peter's returns to action at the Til Duty Is Done College Invitational on Saturday. The event was originally called the Northeast Invitational, but will now be held in honor of organizations that serves returning veterans. In addition, the two-day event has been moved from Mohegan Sun to the Lake of Isles North Course in North Stonington, Conn. The field will consist of 17 teams, including MAAC foes Canisius, Fairfield and Siena.
