Box Score Saint Peter's (3-3-1) 3, LIU Brooklyn (2-5-1) 1
The Saint Peter's Peacocks hosted the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon at Jaroschak Field, for their last non-conference game of the 2015 season. The Peacocks were able to come out victorious, adding their third win of the season by a score of 3-1. Louis Mobbs was able to score two goals in the contest, leading SPU to their victory.
In the first half of the match, the Peacocks were the ones who struck first putting the first goal on the scoreboard at the 16-minute mark. Louis Mobbs put one past the keeper, who came out to challenge the pass from Ezequiel Cei. Cei would be credited with the assist. Mobbs' goal gave SPU the 1-0 lead in the match and would be the only goal of the first half.
The Peacocks weren't ready to take their foot off the gas, and would eventually bury another two goals in the second half. In the 54th minute, a beautiful corner kick by Luke Fairlamb would allow Reece Lambert to score his first goal of the season. This would give SPU a 2-0 lead.
Another 14 minutes after the Lambert goal, Mobb's took full advantage of a second scoring opportunity and buried his second goal of the match and third of the season. The Peacocks third goal of the game gave the Peacocks a 3-0 lead.
In the 73rd minute of the match, the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn were able to put themselves on the scoreboard as Rasmus Hansen put a ball past Jamie Cleland to make the score 3-1. Other than this score, Cleland had another solid performance for the Peacocks.
The Peacocks are scheduled to take the pitch on September 26 at Quinnipiac for their first MAAC conference match. Their next home match will be against the Rider Broncos on September 30.
