STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –
Jermaine Lascelles (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) won the high jump to pace the Saint Peter's track and field team at the Villanova Open on Friday. On the women's side, Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) posted a fifth-place standing in the high jump to lead the way for the women's track and field team.
Lascelles won the high jump with a height of 2.03m and also finished 14th in the long jump (6.30m). Pryzbocki placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.60m.
Along with Lascelles on the men's side, Wellington Brown (Union, N.J./Union) placed fourth in the long jump (6.80m) while Shaka Shomari (Hempstead, N.Y./Holy Trinity) finished sixth in the 200m dash (22.32). Dexter Valley (West Orange, N.J./West Orange)and Marlowe Toole (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) also registered Top-10 finishes in the 400m dash (50.01) and the 800m run (1:59.09).
Nkosi Pile (Atlanta, Ga./The Church Farm) finished 11th in the 200m dash (22.56) and Michael Marcano (Roselle, N.J./Roselle Catholic) was 12th in the event (22.56) while Marcano finished ahead of Pile in the 60m dash with in 13th place a time of 7.05 compared to Pile's 15th-place finish (7.11).
Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) was 12th in the 1000m run (2:40.33) while Percy Martin (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) finished 13th in the 60m hurdles (8.69) and Carlos Donou (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) placed 14th in the triple jump (11.70m).
On the women's side, Alexandra Moffatt (Smithville, Texas/Smithville) placed sixth in the pole vault (3.20m) and Adia Ledbetter (Linden, N.J./Roselle Catholic) was sixth in the shot put (12.10m).
Nkeka Pinheiro (Ajax, Ontario/Ajax) placed 11th in the 60m dash, missing the finals by .05 seconds. Aicha Elola (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) finished 11th in the shot put (11.31m) while Raquel Henderson (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) placed 13th in the 400m dash (59.81).
Saint Peter's returns to action at the Great Dane University of Albany Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex in Staten Island on Jan. 16. Events start at 10 a.m.
