Saint Peter's Swimming & Diving Teams Have Strong Individual Performances at Manhattan

RIVERDALE, NY – The Saint Peter's swimming and diving teams fell to Manhattan in a weekend meet. The men's squad fell by a slim margin of 106-99, while the women's unit dropped the meet 79-35.

"We were really excited about some of our individual performances," noted head coach Mark Kretzer. "Although we came up short on the team scoring, we are really happy with where we stand in terms of our training and overall goals for the end of our season.  Our sprinters are looking sharp and focused, the distance specialists are hitting great times for this early in the season, and our stroke specialists are feeling really good in the water.  We hope this momentum continues leading into the next few meets we have coming up."

Top individual performances by the men included; Nicholas Riepe winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:54.37 and the 500 free with a time of 4:47.84, Thomas Calloni took the 200 freestyle with a finishing time of 1:47.46, and Michael Spark won the 100 backstroke posting a meet best of 55.66. The women's top individual swimmers included; Alexandria Thomas who took the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:18.20, and Ericka Leynes won the 100 breaststroke posing a time of 1:20.32.
