WEST ORANGE, NJ – Nicholas Riepe won the men 500 free, Karen Castaneda won the women 500 free, while the men and women 200 free relay teams each won their respective races for the Saint Peter's swimming and diving teams in the season opening tri-meet at Seton Hall.
Riepe won the men 500 free with a time of 4:53.44 while also finishing second in the 1000 free with a time of 9:56.66. Castaneda won the women 500 free with a time of 5:24.07. The men's 200 free relay team that consists of Michael Spark, Daniel Betts, Eliran Epshtein, and Igal Oren won with a time of 1:28.99. The women's relay team of Nicole Estrada, Ericka Leynes, Alexandria Thomas, and Brianni Thomas took the 200 relay with a time of 2:16.20.
Hunter Cooney was the runner up in the men 100 fly (55.63) and the men 200 IM (2:09.71).
Third place finishes for the Peacocks included the men 200 medley relay team of Spark, Chad Williams, Igal, and Epshtein with a time of 1:38.29, Thomas Calloni in the men 200 free finishing with a time of 1:48.80, Riepe in the men 200 fly with a time of 1:57.60, Igal in the men 100 free with a time of 48:68, Daniel Gayetsky in the men 500 free with a time of 5:03.78, Williams in the men 100 fly with a time 56.55, and Diego Rueda in the men 200 IM with a time of 2:09.77.
Saint Peter's return to the pool next Saturday, October 15 when they head to NJIT for a 1:00 p.m. start.
