JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Loyola defeated Saint Peter's men's tennis 6-1 in non-conference men's tennis action on Sunday.
For the second-straight day, Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia/UMKC) won his singles match and teamed up with Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) to win their doubles match. Ivanov defeated Jordan Kuchta 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while the Ivanov-Rodriguez tandem defeated Blest Jones and Brett Shriver at No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
Despite the win at No. 1 doubles, the Greyhounds won the final two doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Kutcha and C.J. Cash defeated Jonathan Paredes (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) and Andres-Sebastian Rojas (Quito, Ecudor/Centebad) 6-1 at No. 2 doubles while Tyler Blessing and Greg Olesnycky downed Gabriel Russotto (Bayonne, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) and Douglas Nover (Bayside, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep) 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
In other singles action, Blessing downed Rodriguez 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, Reid Burch defeated Paredes 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Connor Pietrak downed Rojas at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3. Russotto fell to Jones at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-1 and Nover dropped his No. 6 singles match to Olesnycky 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Wednesday against Sacred Heart at the Yanitelli Center Bubble. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
