Fordham Downs Saint Peter's Softball In Six Innings

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham completed the Fordham Tournament with a 10-2 win in six innings against Saint Peter's in non-conference softball action on Sunday.

Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wisc./William Bay) paced the Peacocks (0-13) with a two-run homer while Jackie Riley (South Amboy, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) added two hits and a run scored.

Madison Shaw led the Rams (11-13) with a three-run homer and Amy Van Hoven posted two hits, two RBIs and a run scored.

Saint Peter's scored first before Fordham registered the final 10 runs of the afternoon to defeat the Peacocks for the second-straight game.

With two outs in the first inning, Riley singled to center field and came around to score on Storms thunder over the left field fence to give Saint Peter's 2-0 advantage.

The Rams answered with four runs in the third to take the lead for good at 4-2. Van Hoven hit a two-run single to tie the game at 2 and the Lindsay Mayer hit an RBI single that plated two runs thanks to an error.

Fordham added two runs in the fourth after scoring on a wild pitch and an error to extend the margin to 6-2.

Jessica Hughes hit an RBI single in the fifth before Shaw smacked a three-run homer in the sixth to end the game with a 10-2 win.
