JERSEY CITY, NJ – Saint Peter's women's tennis head coach Mike Scolamieri has announced the team's 2017 spring schedule.
"For the first time, the women will play a Mid American Conference (MAC) team, Akron, which should be their most difficult opponent," said head coach Mike Scolamieri. "The Fall season went as expected. It was about learning what we have to work on for the more difficult winter-spring seasons. Our hope is to stay injury free and to play our best from mid March to mid April when we play our toughest conference opponents."
The women open up the season at home in the RLC Bubble for their first nine matches and 11 of their first 12 beginning on Saturday, Jan. 21 against Providence. They compete again on back-to-back days Jan. 28 against St. Bonaventure and 29 against LIU Brooklyn to close out January.
The team opens up February on Saturday Feb. 4 hosting Wagner and then on Feb. 11 they play Loyola, MD. On Feb. 18 and 19 the squad faces Akron and then La Salle.
The unit has a two-week break, before they invite St. Francis Brooklyn to Jersey City on March 4 and then Lafayette on March 5. The team hits the road for the first time on Sunday, March 19 when they head to MAAC foe Siena. The team returns home on March 24 to face Queens College and then returns to MAAC play at home against Fairfield on March 26. The squad closes out the month on March 28 at Fairleigh Dickinson.
During April, the women's team heads to Rider on Saturday, the 1st and then travel to Marist on the 2nd. The team closes non-conference action at Hofstra on April 9 and then finishes the regular season at home versus Niagara on Saturday, April 22.
