Fordham Defeats Men's Tennis on Sunday Afternoon

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University Men's Tennis team was defeated 6-1 by Fordham University. The Peacock's record stands at 1 win and 5 losses.

Coach Scolamieri on the match today:

"It may have been the team's best all around match of the season. The guy that played the best match was Douglas Nover, who got his first win of the semester."

Due to Super Bowl Sunday, both coaches agreed to play clinch in doubles to quicken up the match. No. 2 doubles (Douglas Nover/Gabriel Russotto) and No. 3 doubles (Ivan Knezevic/Jonathan Paredes) lost by identical scores of 2-6. No. 1 (Jorge Rodriguez/Andres Sebastian Rojas) was down 3-4 before it was abandoned. There was good competition on the courts today as everyone on the team won at least 2 games in each of the 15 sets except for one. Douglas Nover was the only victorious Peacock on the singles court at No. 4, against Allen Thornes. He won in tough, straight sets by a scoreline of 7-6(7), 6-4.

The Men's team returns to the court against the Loyola (Md.) University Greyhounds on February 11. First serve is set to take place at 1pm in the Yanitelli Center Bubble in a match alongside the Women's team.
