Five Saint Peter's Basketball Student-Athletes Named to MAAC All-Academic Teams

MAAC MEN'S BASKETBALL RELEASE | MAAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RELEASE 

ALBANY, NY – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its Basketball All-Academic teams, with the Peacocks women's basketball team placing four players on the team, and the men's basketball team having one player making the team.

Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury), Samantha Meier (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan), Janelle Mullen (Ozone Park, NY/The Hun School of Princeton), and Alyssa Velles (Franklin, CT/Norwich Free Academy) were honored for the Saint Peter's women's basketball team, while Nick Griffin (Rockville, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder (George Washington)) was honored for the Peacocks men's basketball team.

A total of 52 student-athletes comprise the 2017 MAAC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team.  Canisius College and Quinnipiac University led all schools with seven student-athletes each. Fairfield University and Niagara University each added six, while Marist College, Rider University, and Saint Peter's University added five. Iona College and Siena College each added four student-athletes. Rounding out this year's all-academic team is Manhattan College with one student-athlete.

A total of 14 men's basketball players make up the 2017 MAAC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. Fairfield University and Quinnipiac University led all schools with three student-athletes each. Siena College and Monmouth University each added two student-athletes while Canisius College, Manhattan College, Marist College, and Saint Peter's University added one student-athlete.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
