Five Peacocks Score in Double Figures to Lead Women’s Basketball Over LIU Brooklyn

The Peacocks earn their second straight home win against LIU Brooklyn 86-59

 
JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Peacocks remain perfect at home this season after picking up a 27-point blowout win over LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks had five players score in double figures resulting in the program's largest win since 2003.

Game Notes vs. LIU Brooklyn:
  • The Peacocks fell behind 6-2 early in the first quarter. 
  • Following the four-point deficit, D'Aviyon Magazine scored a three point basket to begin a 22-3 Saint Peter's run in the first quarter. 
  • During the run, the Peacocks held the Blackbirds scoreless for over four minutes. 
  • Of the 22 points during the run,12 came from behind the arc. 
  • Briyanah Richardson closed out the dominating opening quarter with a three-point shot at the buzzer to give the Peacocks a commanding 24-9 lead. 
  • Zoe Pero's two free throws to open the second quarter sparked an 11-point run for the team to extending the lead to 35-9. 
  • LIU Brooklyn's first points of the quarter, didn't come until the 4:19 mark, which also ended the 11-point run for the Peacocks.
  • Saint Peter's would end up holding LIU Brooklyn to just 17 points by the half. 
  • The Peacocks extended their lead over the Blackbirds to 27-points by the end of the third quarter, leading 65-38. 
  • In the fourth quarter, the Peacocks took their largest lead of 31 points at the 8:21 mark. 
  • In the final quarter, Saint Peter's scored 15 points from behind the arc to close out the win. 
  • By the final buzzer, the Peacocks had an 86-59 victory.
Inside The Numbers:
  • Pero recorded her first double double of the season finishing with a team and season-high of 19 points and 10 rebounds. 
  • Pero also shot a perfect 100 percent from the free throw, going 11 for 11.
  • Richardson was just shy of a double double, finishing with 13 points and eight assists, while also adding four steals. 
  • Richardson finished the game shooting 4-of-6 from the field. 
  • Magazine finished with a season-high of 17 points going 6-for-12 from the field. 
  • Anna Maguire and Sammy Lochner finished the game with 13 points each.
  • Lochner also grabbed four rebounds and two assists. 
  • Cinnamon Dockery had a great day on the boards, finishing with nine rebounds.
  • The Peacocks capitalized on turnovers from the Blackbirds, earning 23 points off of 25 turnovers.
  • The 27-point victory was the largest win for Saint Peter's since December 10, 2003 when the Peacocks defeated Monmouth by 31 points in the Yanitelli Center.
  • This is the first time the Peacocks posted 86 points in regulation since 2005.
