Women’s Basketball Remains Perfect at Home, Beating Wagner 69-57

The Peacocks earned their fourth win of the season against Wagner

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Peacocks remained perfect at home this season after picking up a 12-point win over Wagner College on Friday night. 

Game Notes vs. Wagner:
  • The Peacocks started the game on an eight point run to give them a 9-1 lead in the first quarter. 
  • The Seahawks outscored the Peacocks 9-5 in the second quarter, taking their first lead of the game 22-21 with 24 seconds left in the half.
  • A free throw by Dajiah Martin tied the game at 22-22 going into the half. 
  • The Peacocks came out strong in the third quarter, starting with a 3-pointer by Tyara McQueen
  • The Peacocks went on a 9-0 run and forced 10 turnovers in the third quarter.
  • Zoe Pero went 4 for 4 from the free throw line during the 9-point run. 
  • The team took a 46-34 lead going into the fourth quarter. 
  • The Peacocks started the fourth quarter with another 9-0 run, giving them a 55-37 lead. 
  • Pero hit a layup and got the and-1 to give the team a 60-41 advantage.
  • Pero's and-1 gave the Peacocks their largest lead of the game (19 points) at the 5:04 mark in the fourth.
  • McQueen's two free throws at the 1:16 mark gave the Peacocks their final points in the 69-54 win over the Seahawks. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • D'Aviyon Magazine and Pero each had a team high of 15 points in the game. 
  • Briyanah Richardson was right behind her teammates, finishing the game with 13 points and three assists. 
  • Magazine had a team high of five steals and four assists to help earn the win. 
  • Pero shot 100 percent from the free throw line, going 5 of 5 from the charity stripe.
  • Cinnamon Dockery grabbed a team high of 10 rebounds for the Peacocks and added four assists. 
  • Wil'lisha Jackson contributed nine points, going 4-6 from the field. 
  • Sammy Lochner also added eight points in the win against the Seahawks.
  • The 4-2 start, is the best start for the Peacocks since starting the season 5-1 in 2007.
  • This is also the first time the Peacocks have started the season 3-0 at home since 2007 as well.
