Women’s Basketball Defeats FDU in Final Non-Conference Game Behind Career Night from Pero

The Peacocks earned their fifth win of the season to close out the non-conference schedule, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - For the first time in over a decade, the Saint Peter's women's basketball team finished non-conference play with at least five wins after the Peacocks defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 75-58 at home on Friday night. Junior forward Zoe Pero scored a career high 26 points to lead the Peacocks in the win.

Game Notes vs. FDU:
  • The Peacocks went down 5-4 to begin the quarter.
  • Zoe Pero scored a layup at the 7:51 mark to give the Peacocks their first lead.
  • Pero dominated the first quarter, scoring 13 of the Peacocks' 18 points.
  • D'Aviyon Magazine sank a three giving the team its largest lead of the half, seven points, in the second quarter. 
  • The Peacocks picked up an even larger lead in the third quarter, going up 12 points. 
  • Briyanah Richardson scored seven points in the third quarter to help build the lead for Saint Peter's. 
  • In the final quarter, Anna Maguire opened up with a 3-point shot at the 9:09 mark.
  • The Peacocks had their largest lead of the game with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter, going  ahead by 19 points.

Inside The Numbers:
  • Pero scored a career high 26 points against the Knights, going 12-16 from the field while also grabbing six rebounds. Her previous career high was 23 points against Rider on February 19, 2018.
  • Richardson scored 14 points against the Knights, while dishing out five assists, and seven rebounds. 
  • Wil'lisha Jackson added a team high of 10 rebounds, while adding six points. 
  • Magazine scored a total of 11 points, six rebounds, four steals. 
  • Tyara McQueen had a team high of six assists and two steals. 
  • The last time a Saint Peter's team won over five non-conference games was in 2007-08 when that team posted nine out of conference wins.
  • The five wins are the most wins in a season for the Peacocks since going 5-26 in the 2014-15 season.
