EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced that sophomore David Powers has been named the MAAC Men's Golfer of the Week after winning the individual title in the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, PA.
Powers led the field in the two-day tournament after shooting a 68+70=138 (-4), edging Wagner's A.J. Skinner by two strokes. After the first round, he led the field after posting a three under par coming by way of four birdies on the front nine, and one birdie with seven strokes on par on the back nine to close out day one. In the final round of the invitational, Powers shot one under par and he produced an eagle on hole 17 and a birdie on hole five.
Powers' performance helped lead the Peacocks to a fourth-place tie in the Wildcat Invitational. The Peacocks tied with MAAC member Iona, and edged fellow conference mates Monmouth, Rider, and Siena.
Joining Powers as a MAAC weekly award winner is Siena's Sara Riso, who earned the Women's Golfer of the Week honor.
