FAIRFIELD, CT - Saint Peter's men's tennis team was swept by Fairfield on Sunday in their final away match of the season.
Doubles Results - The Peacocks lost the doubles tandem point, 2-1. Piotr Sowinski and John Oxner defeated Lewis Edwards and Jeffrey Rodgers, 6-3, at No. 1. Hector Andres Jacome and Ignacio Tintore battled but fell 7-1 in the tiebreak at No. 2 against Tyler Shibles and Anthony Caputo. Ivan Knezevic and Gabriel Russotto were defeated by Allan Magid and William Townsend Font at No. 3, 6-1.
Singles Results - Jacome fell to Shibles at the top flight, 6-2, 6-1. Sowinski fought in the match by suffered a setback against Edwards 4-6, 6-3, [10]-[6] at No. 2. Oxner fell to Rodgers 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3. Tintore faltered against Caputo at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3. Knezevic fought but lost the battle at No. 5, 7-6(4), 3-6, [10]-[6]. Igor Khvorostian lost by identical set scores of 6-3 against Magid at No. 6.
Up Next - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team returns home for their final conference match of the season against hOURglass rival Rider on Tuesday, April 24. The match is set for 6pm at Lincoln Park in Jersey City.
