Briyanah Richardson Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Female Student-Athlete of the Week

EDISON, NJ - Briyanah Richardson of the Saint Peter's women's basketball team has been named as the Pepsi Zero Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Female Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office today.

A freshman point guard, Richardson had a career high 39 points against Fairfield last week, shooting 5-5 from the three and 8-9 at the free throw line. Her performance against the Stags tied her for ninth in the MAAC record book for most points in a conference game, making her the first Peacock to crack the MAAC record book in the category. She became the first Peacock to score over 30 points in a game since Jynae Judson scored 34 points on December 7, 2010, against Lehigh.

Richardson now leads the Peacocks in scoring and assists, averaging 14.5 points and 3.6 assists, and currently sits at fourth in the MAAC in points per game. She averages 30.5 minutes a game for the team, while shooting .462 behind the three-point line and .372 from the field. Richardson has also been named as the MAAC Rookie of the Week three times already this season, including this week, leading all other freshmen on the year.
