Swimming & Diving Closes Out Regular Season on the Road this Weekend

The Peacocks will be at Seton Hall on Friday and at Siena on Saturday

Opening Dive
  • The Saint Peter's men's and women's swimming & diving teams close out the 2018-19 regular season on the road with two meets this weekend.
  • On Friday, January 25 the Peacocks visit Seton Hall at 3 p.m. and on Saturday, January 26 the women's team visits Siena at 2 p.m.
  • The men's team has remained perfect in the regular season, going 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the MAAC, the best overall regular season for third year head coach Mark Kretzer.
  • The women's team comes into the meet 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the MAAC.
 
Last Time out
  • The men's team extended their winning streak to eight, following a 168-103 victory over Rival Monmouth last Saturday.
  • With the win, the Peacocks improved to 8-0 in dual meets this season, and 3-0 in conference meets.
  • The women's team fell to both Monmouth and LIU Brooklyn, losing 50-211 and 44-212 respectively.
 
Next Time in the Pool
  • The Peacocks head to the 2019 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships.
  • The conference championships will take place from Wednesday, February 13 to Saturday, February 16 at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY.
 
Best start under Kretzer
  • The men's team has won eight consecutive meets, posting the best ever record under third year head coach Mark Kretzer.
  • The squad has victories over NJIT (118-115), Mount Saint Mary's (155-58), MAAC foe Manhattan (140.50-92.50), St. Francis Brooklyn (190-65), Pace (139-75), Fairfield (153-127) of the MAAC, Lafayette (165-100), and Rival Monmouth (168-103) through the 2018-19 season.
Dominance in the Pool
  • The men's team has outscored its eight opponents by 493 combined points and has won by an average of 61.6 points per meet.
International Scene  
  • The men's swimming sophomore duo of Jhonny Perez and Troy Pina competed in the 14th Fédération Internationale De Natation (FINA) World Swimming Championships back on December 11-16.
  • Perez represented the Dominican Republic, while Pina represented Cape Verde.
Déjà vu
  • For the second consecutive season, the men's swimming and diving team started the season 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC.
