Peacocks drop 4-1 decision to Purple Eagles on Senior Day

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Niagara at home on Saturday. Sophomore midfielder Stephanie Radakovic scored the opening goal for the Peacocks before the Purple Eagles rallied back to take the win.

Game Notes
  • As has been a theme in recent matches, the Peacocks and their opponents were unable to get past each other's defenses for the majority of the match on Saturday. The two teams played 70 minutes of scoreless soccer before the first ball found the back of the net.
  • In the 71st minute of action, junior midfielder Isabel Fernandez sent a lead pass up the field to Radakovic, who found the back of the net after a one-on-one with the Niagara goalkeeper.
  • Niagara would respond quickly, however, with two rapid goals coming in the following minute of action. The two Purple Eagle tallies came within 30 seconds of each other, both being scored in the 72nd minute.
  • The Purple Eagles would go on to score twice more in the match, at 85' and 89', sealing the 4-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers
  • Radakovic's goal is the sophomore's first of the season and the first goal of her collegiate career with the Peacocks.
  • Additionally, the assist by Fernandez is the junior's first of the season and the first in her career at Saint Peter's.
  • Saturday's match marks the second consecutive game in which the Peacocks have recorded double-digit shots.
  • Peacocks goalkeeper Victoria Scarratt recorded 11 saves on the day, which is the third time this season that the junior has recorded double-digit saves.
