Women’s Volleyball Falls to Unbeaten MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team played three tough sets at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular Season Champion and unbeaten Fairfield University on Sunday afternoon but ended up falling in straight sets (17-25, 23-25, 16-25).

The Match
 

• Saint Peter's kept pace with the conference's best team in the first set, taking an 11-10 lead over Fairfield following a kill from Carolina Ruiz. Fairfield would close out the set outscoring the Peacocks 15-6 for the win.
• The Peacocks played an even better set in the second. After falling behind 8-2 early, 16-10 midway through, and 22-15 late, Saint Peter's rallied for an 8-2 run with kills coming from Ruiz and Danielle Lopez plus a service ace by Yaidelis Lopez-Jimenez to pull within one point (23-24). The Stags would get the final needed point, to take the set 25-23.
• In the final set, Saint Peter's scored the set's first three points, but ultimately ended up dropping the frame 16-25 and the match 0-3. 

 
Inside the Numbers

• Alanis Alvarado was the only Peacock in the game to go over 10 kills, securing a team-high 13 in the match.
• Wildalys Soto paced the Peacock offense with 19 assists.
• Karla Seda was the defensive leader for Saint Peter's, making 19 digs.
