BUFFALO, NY – The Saint Peter's men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed the first day of action at the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships in Buffalo, NY at the Burt Flickenger Center at Erie Community College. Both Peacock teams finished the night in ninth place. The men's team tallied 42 points, while the women's team scored 32 points.
The team's best performance of opening night came in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay, where the foursome of
Oleksiy Polishchuk,
Yann Le Gall,
Andrew Galarza, and
Joshua Varrie finished the race in 6:50.15, good for a seventh place finish. The men's 200-yard medley relay team of
Michael Spark,
Dylan Dela Cruz,
Dino Jajcanin, and
Daniel Betts, placed ninth in the event after finishing the race in 1:33.92.
The women's team best race of the night came with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of
Evangelia Vasilikas,
Rachel Valentine,
Hannah Rye, and
Devyn Hantgin finished the relay in a 1:50.44.
Action resumes tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with prelims followed by finals at 6 p.m.
