BUFFALO, NY – The Saint Peter's men's swimming and diving team closed out the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships with four medalists. Swimmers Arthur Bertrand, Oleksiy Polishchuk, Guillem Perez, and Yann Le Gall all claimed spots on the podium during the final day of action in Buffalo, NY. The men's team improved one spot on the standings, finishing in seventh place with 252 points. The women's team remained in ninth, ending the meet with 90 points.

Polishchuk had the highest finish for the Peacocks during the four-day event, placing third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:02.06 time. Bertrand snagged his second medal of the championships by way of a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. Bertrand set a new school record in the event with his time of 1:49.84, breaking the previous record of 1:49.98 which was set by Facundo Monteiro in 2013. Freshman Guillem Perez earned his first MAAC medal in the 200-yard breaststroke, placing eighth with a 2:08.11 time. Le Gall earned his second fifth-place medal of the tournament after closing out the 100-yard freestyle in a 46.07 time.

The men's team also had top finishes with Miles Jantzi being eighth in the B-Final of the 200-yard backstroke and Andrew Galarza placing fourth in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle. Additionally, the Peacocks 400-yard freestyle relay team of Le Gall, Joshua Varrie, Galarza, and David Dolgitzer came in seventh-place.

On the women's side, Rachel Valentine finished sixth in the B-Final of the 200-yard breaststroke and fourth in the B-Final of the 100-yard breaststroke. Valentine swam a leg on all five of the women's relay teams in addition and was the lone individual scorer for the women's team. The ninth-place finish and 90 total points for the women's squad were both the best outputs for the team since the 2015 championships.
