JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's softball team lost both games of a double header against Fairleigh Dickinson in their home opener. The Peacocks lost the first game 9-0 before losing 8-5 in the second game.
Game Notes vs. FDU:
Game 1:
- The Knights got on the board early, scoring the first run of the game in the first inning.
- They added to their lead in the third, fourth and fifth innings, with six runs between the two innings to go up 7-0.
- Alyssa Mido had the first hit of the game for the Peacocks in the fifth inning.
- In the top of the seventh, FDU hit a 2-run homerun to end the game 9-0.
- Sydney Senerchia and Sydney Ramsey each notched one strikeout against the Knights.
Game 2:
- In the first inning, FDU singled to right field bringing in the first run of the game, taking the early 1-0 lead.
- Barbara Verrastro doubled to center field in the bottom of the frame, but was left on base.
- The Knights scored two more runs in the second inning and then two more in the third inning to go up 5-0.
- The Peacocks scored their first run of the game in the third inning off of a Taylor White pop up, 5-1.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Peacocks scored another run after Harley Connors stole home, 5-2.
- FDU increased their lead to 8-2 in the top of the seventh inning.
- In the final frame, Natasha Solano doubled to left field bringing in two RBIs, bringing the Peacocks up to 8-4.
- Theamaris Ramirez flied out to center field bringing in Natasha Solano to earn the fifth run, 8-5.
- Tiffani Lambert had three strikeouts for the Peacocks on the mound.
