STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Saint Peter's softball team split two games with Wagner on Wednesday afternoon. The Peacocks won the first game 7-5 and lost the second game 6-2.
Game Notes vs. Wagner:
Game 1:
- The Peacocks got on the board in the second inning, scoring their first run off of Natasha Solano's single to shortstop allowing Alina Guevara to score.
- Marissa Morales grounded to second base bringing in another run, leading 2-0.
- Anja Solveig Kane ended the second inning rally with a two-run homer to center field to take a 4-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the second inning, the Seahawks scored three runs to cut into the Peacocks lead, 4-3.
- In the fifth inning, Wagner scored one run to tie the game at 4-4.
- Two innings later, Harley Connors singled to right field bringing in Kane from third base, taking the lead again, 5-4.
- Theamaris Ramirez doubled to center field to bring in two more runs, stretching the Peacocks' lead to 7-4.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Wagner could only muster one run giving the Peacocks the win, 7-5.
- Freshman Sydney Senerchia pitched a complete game, earning 11 strikeouts as well as the win for the Peacocks.
Game 2:
- Wagner scored the first run of the game in the first inning.
- In the second and third innings, the Seahawks were able to extend their lead to 5-0.
- In the top of the fourth, Alina Guevera hit an RBI double to right center bringing in Connors from second to get on the board, 5-1.
- Alyssa Mido grounded out to shortstop bringing in Ramirez with the fielder's choice, cutting the Peacocks deficit to 5-2.
- In the last inning, Wagner scored one more run, winning the game, 6-2.
- Guevera had a team-high two runs, for the Peacocks.
- Senior Sydney Ramsey pitched the entire game with one strikeout.
