Softball Comes up Short against Monmouth

The Peacocks lost to the Hawks 8-0 in both contests of the doubleheader

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Saint Peter's Softball fell to hOURglass Rival Monmouth in both games of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon. The Hawks won game one 8-0 (five innings) and game two 8-0 (six innings). Alina Guevara led the Peacocks with three hits on the day.
 
Game One
  • Monmouth scored in the first inning with a solo home run to center field.
  • The Hawks built on their lead in the fourth, adding three more runs from a solo home run, a double and a stolen base plus an error to go ahead 4-0.
  • Alina Guevara got the lone hit of the game for the Peacocks in the bottom of the fourth, a single to center field.
  • Monmouth scored four runs in the fifth and the Peacocks went down in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game, 8-0.
Game Two
  • The Hawks used three hits and a Peacock error to score two runs in the first inning and take an early 2-0 lead.
  • Monmouth added to their lead in the third inning with four runs.
  • The closest the Peacocks came to getting on the board was in the fourth inning.
  • Guevara started the inning with a single to right field, followed by Alyssa Mido drawing a walk.
  • Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Sydney Senerchia, but the Peacocks couldn't make a play to bring the runs home.
  • The Hawks scored two more runs in the sixth inning, and the Peacocks couldn't answer in the home half of the frame, resulting in the 8-0 loss.
