PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The Saint Peter's softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with UMES on Thursday. The Peacocks won game one 13-6 and lost game two 10-2.
Game Notes vs. UMES:
Game 1:
- In the first inning, Theamaris Ramirez doubled to left center bringing in three runs, leading to a quick 3-0 lead.
- Later that inning, Natasha Solano flied out to left field bringing in Ramirez to score the fourth run for the Peacocks.
- Early in the second inning, Schieler Collins singled up the middle, leading 5-0.
- Harley Connors tripled to right field allowing Collins to score and up the score to 6-0.
- Right after, Alina Guevara hit a sacrifice fly to center field bringing in Connors to score the seventh run for the Peacocks.
- In the fifth inning, Ramirez earned another hit bringing in a run off an error on UMES.
- UMES scored their first three runs in the fifth inning, shortening the Peacocks' lead to 8-3.
- The sixth inning produced a Guevara RBI single to extend the lead to 9-3
- Ramirez hit a homer scoring three more runs, stretching their lead, 12-3.
- In the seventh inning, Anja Solveig Kane singled to left center allowing Marissa Morales to score the 13th run for the Peacocks.
- UMES only scored one run in the last inning, giving the Peacocks the win 13-6.
- The 13 runs scored was a season-high and the most runs for the Peacocks in a game since scoring 13 against Iona on May 4, 2013.
- Theamaris Ramirez had a career high six RBIs against UMES.
- Sydney Senerchia pitched a complete game tallying six strikeouts.
Game 2:
- Both teams went scoreless in the first four innings.
- Harley Connors reached on a fielding error allowing Taylor White to score, giving the Peacocks the first run of the game.
- UMES scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, taking the lead 4-1.
- Alyssa Mido doubled to right field bringing in one run to cut the deficit to 4-2.
- UMES scored six runs ending the game, winning 10-2.
- Alyssa Mido led the Peacocks with two hits.
