Women's Soccer Blanked by NJIT Saturday

NEWARK, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer program suffered its first defeat of the 2019 campaign after dropping a 2-0 decision at NJIT on Saturday in Newark.

Rapid Recap
  • NJIT opened the scoring in the 39th minute after Nora O'Connor broke open the scoreless deadlock with her first tally of the season off a feed from Lauren Chamberlain.
  • That 1-0 score went unchanged through the remainder of the half, one that saw NJIT attempt all 21 shots, while junior goalkeeper Victoria Scarratt recorded nine saves.
  • Roughly 15 minutes into the second stanza, NJIT would double its lead after Whitney Roth secured her first goal of the young season with just over 30 minutes to go.
  • That, however, was the last goal for either side, as NJIT netminder Cassidy Landis put up a clean sheet in net and stopped the only shot that reached her.
