Opening Word:

The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team travels north this weekend for a game against the Fairfield Stags on Saturday (Jan. 11) in a 2 p.m. tip.
During their last time out, the Peacocks fell to Manhattan 85-52 at home on Jan. 9, bringing their home MAAC record to 1-2 on the season.
Redshirt junior Taiah Thornton led the Peacocks offensive effort for the sixth game this season, scoring a game-high 17 points while shooting 53.8 percent from the field.
Kendrea Williams also produced a double-digit performance for Saint Peter's, putting up 10 points while going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, which marks the third game thus far where Williams has shot 60 percent or better from three-point range.

Series with the Stags:

The Peacocks enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 37-48 versus the Stags, having first met on the hardwood on February 19, 1977.
Saint Peter's came away from that initial matchup on top, defeating Fairfield 63-60 on the road.
The Peacocks went 1-1 against the Stags last season, winning the first contest against the Stags in 2019 by a 68-65 margin in Fairfield on Jan. 15, followed by a 69-61 defeat at home on Feb. 22.
In the last 10 games in the series, Saint Peter's has gone 2-8 against Fairfield.

As of January 9, the Peacocks held the highest free-throw percentage of any Division I program in the country at 80.2 percent.
In the MAAC, three Peacocks rank in the top 10 for the category, including Briyanah Richardson, who holds the top spot in the conference and third slot in the country, shooting 93.1 percent from the line.
Gabrielle Harris sits at second in the league with an 89.1 percent average, and Thornton is eighth making 78.8 percent.
