HAMDEN, CT – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team got back in the win column on Saturday, handling top-ranked Quinnipiac, 71-51, ending a three-game skid. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win for the Peacocks improves the team's league record to 3-3.
Hassan Drame scored a career-high 17 points and added 14 rebounds to lead Saint Peter's.
How it Played Out
- Saint Peter's fell behind 6-0, missing on its first three field goal attempts.
- The pendulum swung in the Peacocks favor from 17:13 to 13:42, outplaying the Bobcats 8-0 and overtaking the lead 8-6.
- The run continued with Saint Peter's scoring 8 out of the game's next 11 points, extending the lead to 16-9. KC Ndefo hit six straight free throws in the process to lead the team.
- Back-to-back-to-back triples by Doug Edert, Nazeer Bostick, and Derrick Woods gave the Peacocks their largest lead of the half at 13 points (29-16) with 4:43 remaining in the half.
- Quinnipiac cut the lead to single digits, but another three pointer by Edert and a layup by H. Drame put the team back up by 11 points (36-25).

- Just before the under 12-minute break, Quinnipiac cut the Peacocks lead to single-digits one last time (50-42), before 10 straight points would put Saint Peter's ahead 60-42. The 10-0 run was spearheaded by four combined layups from Ndefo and H. Drame (three).
- A transition dunk by Derrick Woods followed by a Wood's layup, gave Saint Peter's a 21-point advantage (64-43) with 5:48 to play.
- The Peacocks cruised the rest of the way and with 2:45 left, H. Drame connected on two straight layups for the game's largest lead of the night at 23 (70-47).
Inside the Numbers
- H. Drame's efforts gave him his second career double-double and along with his scoring career night, he also handed out a career and game-high five assists.
- H. Drame wasn't the only Peacock with a career game; Ndefo matched his career marks of 16 points and six blocks, while also grabbing five rebounds.
- Woods chipped in with nine points, Edert added eight points, and Quinn Taylor scored seven points in the road contest.
- Saint Peter's held Quinnipiac to its lowest point total of the season and the 20-point victory was the second largest defeat for Quinnipiac this year.
- The Peacocks dominated the boards and paint, edging the Bobcats 53-39 in rebounds, with 18 coming on the offensive glass, and 28-12 on points in the paint --- Saint Peter's converted the second chance opportunities into 21 points.
- Led by H. Drame and Ndefo, Saint Peter's bench outscored Quinnipiac's by a 38-point margin (48-10).
- The game marked the ninth time this season that Saint Peter's had at least 10 players score.
- The Peacocks led for just over 33 minutes and never trailed in the second half.
