- The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will play host to the Manhattan Jaspers in the team's second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) home game on Thursday (Jan. 9) at 4 p.m.
- Thursday's game doubles as MAAC Kid's Day Out, where parents are encouraged to bring out their children for a fun day of Peacocks basketball.
- The Peacocks are coming off an 87-83 victory over Siena in their MAAC home opener on Monday, Jan. 6, evening up their conference record at 1-1.
- The win marked the first time in nearly 10 years that the Peacocks defeated the Saints, snapping an 18-game losing streak dating back to a 53-45 road win on Feb. 13, 2010.
- Gabrielle Harris and Briyanah Richardson combined for 48 points in the win, with Richardson's 23 points marking a season-high for the sophomore.
- Wil'lisha Jackson also had a very productive outing against the Saints, notching her second career double-double, scoring 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
History with the Jaspers:
- The Peacocks and the Jaspers will do battle for the 91st time in the history of the series on Thursday, with Saint Peter's coming in with a 54-36 advantage.
- In the first meeting, the Peacocks came away victorious in a 62-47 decision on February 24, 1979.
- However, Saint Peter's has dropped its past 11 matchups with Manhattan, last winning in Manhattan on Feb. 7, 2015.
- The Peacocks will be looking for their first home win against the Jaspers since Feb. 23, 2009, when Saint Peter's won by a narrow 56-55 margin.
20-20 in 2020:
- For the second time this season, Harris eclipsed the 20-point mark, dropping a team-high 25 points on the Saints, while Richardson recorded a season-high 23 points in the victory.
- Harris exploded offensively in the fourth quarter, registering 14 points for the Peacocks, including an incredible 10-point run in less than two minutes midway through the period.
- Richardson's performance was the sophomore's first outing in which she broke 20 points this season while also dishing out a team-high five assists.
- The game marks the second occasion of the 2019-20 season in which a pair of Peacocks have scored at least 20 points in a single game.
